Author Interview with Phillip W. Simpson!

Image
The Rapture has occurred - the end of the world. The faithful have risen up to Heaven. Those left behind are in a living hell. Armed only with his swords and his wit, a teenage boy wanders this post-apocalyptic world alone, separated forever from everyone he loves. Cursed by his demonic heritage, he must now embark on a quest that will take him across the US to the City of Angels. There he will confront his destiny. There he must fight to save a friend ... and for the souls of the living. Earthquakes, Tsunamis, plague, famine. Animals mysteriously dying. All the signs are there. The Rapture is coming. How would you survive in this dystopian, post-apocalyptic world? A world whose conditions now mirror those in Hell. A world where Demons emerge at night to take those who remain to Hell. Read Rapture before the Rapture. Be prepared.

Guest Review by Bonnie Erina Wheeler

Image
This is a guest-posted review by Bonnie Erina Wheeler. ***** As you all know, I am a fan of YA novels. I am also a fan of vampire novels. Between my two loves, I had thought I had experienced the majority of what the genre could provide me, until I discovered independent author, Elizabeth Loraine! In this delightful novel, based in the 1800s, we discover the amazing Katrina - a seventeen-year-old sword yielding, independent, compassionate, fascinating heroine who happens to be a vampire. But, don't get me wrong, she is not your everyday blood sucking variety! She has an amazing destiny to fulfill as one of the five and the watchers will help her see to it!

Review: Legacy (Royal Blood Chronicles #6) by Elizabeth Loraine

"Let's join hands and…” “Kraeg, I know we have more power that way, but can't we do it another way? I mean, it's not very manly.” (Page 119). My Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ D escription: Not available until 11/28!

Paranormal Turkey Tour

Image
Ah yes, Thanksgiving. Nothing says the holidays like sitting around a fully decked out dining room table with mouthwatering temptations waiting to be gobbled up. Everyone waits anxiously for the big reveal… the turkey! Lovingly prepared since early that morning, the turkey is brought out in a covered, silver serving platter. Aunt Edith smacks little Tommy's hand as he attempts to steal a candied yam dripping with marshmallow. The collective breath is held as the silver cover is removed… revealing… a zombie turkey! What—what? That's right folks, this year, we are celebrating this American holiday paranormal style. And what says paranormal holiday better than a walking, talking zombie turkey? This zombie turkey brings you important tidings of great prizes that shall be for all people… who participate and win of course. November 25-27 you could win up to $200 in prizes!

1. What (and how many books) have you released? What are they about? I have five soon six in my vampire series Royal Blood Chronicles and one in my new series Phantom Lives. 2. She's strong yet vulnerable has super powers and irresistible to men of any race!

Author Interview with Belle Malory

1. What (and how many books) have you released? What are they about? Wanderlove is my debut novel, released as an indie author. It's a story about Lola, a gypsy, who kind of sucks at being a gypsy. She can't remember anything from her past lives (which is unusual for her kind) and she is trying to figure out why no one wants her to remember. 2. Which, if any, character do you feel has the most of your characteristics (or acts like you do)?  Hmm…Dakota and I do share a love for fashion. Unfortunately, however, I don’t get struck by a vision when I touch someone .     3. How did you get the idea for your work? What lured you to your topics? Music is often the source of my inspiration. I created a song list for Wanderlove , which can be found on my blog. All of those songs inspired different scenes within the book. Shakira’s song “Gypsy” was probably the biggest inspiration.

Review for Atticus for the Undead (The Legal Fiction Series #1) by John Abramowitz

Image
My Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ Description: Hunter Gamble is an idealistic young attorney in a very special area of the practice: arcane defense. Funded by enigmatic billionaire Charles McClain and aided by shy-but-energetic research attorney Kirsten Harper, he's making the world a better place -- one vampire, zombie, or werewolf client at a time. After all, they deserve their day in court too, right? When a young zombie walks into Hunter's office accused of murder (by brain-eating), Hunter's idealism is tested as never before as he struggles to secure the man's freedom. To do so, he must square off against a savvy and ambitious district attorney, contend with a judge who is deeply biased against arcanes, and stand up to a human-supremacist group which will stop at nothing -- not even Hunter's own death -- to see his client convicted. Review: This isn't my typical "type" of book. I don't usually read much outside of YA, unless it is some acclai

My Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ Description: Lola Moori is hiding a secret she doesn't know she's keeping. She begins to remember someone.  Someone important. His name is Gabe…and whatever they shared, she could feel that it was epic. Yet it seems Gabe wanted her to forget him. Forever. The curse that repressed Lola’s memories for the span of several lifetimes is coming undone. But unfortunately for Lola, she discovers that some secrets are better left buried. Review: I'm writing this on 4-AM, last-page adrenline, but I'll try to form this into something more than the giant, screaming "OH MY GOSH" that is flickering across the inner mind's eye like rolling credits. As I labor to harbor and control my internal, eternal fangirldom , I'm going to say straight up, this this book is nothing short of amazing. It's the kind of book one wants to have at the top of their shelf - in addition to the fact that this cover is absolutely beautiful, it will be armed and r

Encompassed: A Short Story Miranda Wheeler His fingers clipped the petite copper ball out of the air. A flick of the wrist sent it spiraling between the sloping rafters of the low ceiling. The miniature sphere sputtered, falling short of the waterlogged asphalt shingles suspended above his head. Gravity eventually propelled it back towards Inner Earth. Before it hit the ground, Montgomery plucked it out of a mid-air spin with his calloused fingertips and wrapped it in a sweaty palm.     Repeatedly, he threw it into the air. Still, it never got a breath closer to the skies. Monte thought of ripping out of the ground - if only to drink up the natural at

This is a guest post by Emlyn Chand, author of Farsighted Dear Jacob Black, Hi. How are you doing? Me? Not so good. You see, I have a bone to pick with you (tacky pun intended). Okay, first of all, why on God’s green Earth did you ever fall for Bella? I mean, really. Even the most fanatic of Twi-fans can’t understand what you see in her. You are so much better than Bella Swan-Cullen (insert gagging noises here).

Review: Farsighted by Emlyn Chand

Image
My Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ Goodreads Description: Alex Kosmitoras’s life has never been easy. The only other student who will talk to him is the school bully, his parents are dead-broke and insanely overprotective, and to complicate matters even more, he's blind. Just when he thinks he'll never have a shot at a normal life, a new girl from India moves into town. Simmi is smart, nice, and actually wants to be friends with Alex. Plus she smells like an Almond Joy bar. Yes, sophomore year might not be so bad after all. Unfortunately, Alex is in store for another new arrival—an unexpected and often embarrassing ability to “see” the future. Try as he may, Alex is unable to ignore his visions, especially when they begin to suggest that Simmi is in danger. With the help of the mysterious psychic next door and new friends who come bearing gifts of their own, Alex must embark on a journey to change his future.

Author Interview with Emlyn Chand!

Author Interview with Emlyn Chand! 1. What (and how many books) have you released? What are they about? Farsighted is my first published novel. It’s of the Paranormal YA genre, but the paranormal is a bit more on the normal side. Here’s my mini teaser:   Alex Kosmitoras may be blind, but he can still “see” things others can’t.   When his unwanted visions of the future begin to suggest that the girl he likes could be in danger, he has no choice but to take on destiny and demand it reconsider. 2. Which, if any, character do you feel has the most of your characteristics (or acts like you do)? None of the characters are like me, per say, but Shapri is probably the closest. She’s the kind of the person I wish I could have been back in high school. She’s strong, always true to herself, and won’t let anyone disrespect her. Sure, she has fears, but we all do. Shapri is the kind of girl I would love to be friends with. You know she’ll always go to bat for you when you’re too tired to

AUTHORity Review: Tree of Life by Elita Daniels

Image
My Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ Goodreads Description Wrath, vengeance, hatred, cannot breathe the same atmosphere as love. And so it was that love began to wither and withdraw... Among the ageless quietude of the elves, Deacon, a mortal, suffers the inescapable awareness of mortality. He lived in what many deemed perfection, but a dark uncertainty plagued him that there lay treachery in it all. When secrets of his mysterious heritage are revealed, the young mage is thrown into a revolt of confusion, and in an unwholesome vent of misery, travels a path of unforgivable deeds. One of the few left of his kind - a race whose magical energies are vigorously interwoven with their lifeforce - Deacon is drawn into a world that turns into an involution of evil and death.

Guest Review by Bonnie Wheeler: Guardian by Elita Daniels

Image
This is a guest review by Bonnie Wheeler . * * * * * 5 out of 5 Stars to author Elita Daniels and her novel “Guardian.” B efore I begin, I must say, I absolutely devoured this novel.   W ithin the very first chapter, Daniels brings us into a world where vampires exist and are treated as second-hand-citizens. The vampire life isn’t glamorous – they have cruel experiments performed on them, they are assigned humans (many of whom are cruel) as a sort of “parole officer” to monitor their every move, and they are forced to take meds that make them ill. I loved the scientific aspects of how vampirism could be spread as an infection, how the government would have their hands in using the disease as a weapon, and how a society’s fear of the unknown would bring out the worst in them.   What I loved the most was how Daniel’s created characters that were both terrifying and fascinating. Her vampires aren’t made of fluff – they have intense emotions, they have physical urg
