Legacy was a pleasant suprise. Although I've heard wonderful things about the author, I've never actually read any previous books in the Royal Blood Chronicles. With an impresssive backlist, a vast and enthusiastic fan following, and clever premises according to the online book descriptions, Elizabeth Loraine was a perfect candidate for the November AUTHORity feature and I knew I had to read one of these books!
Despite jumping into the series on the sixth novel with no background knowledge, Legacy still managed to draw me in and mold a facinating world that's rarely visited in my literary travels. The pacing is fantastic, the characters are interesting (and often filled with a delightfully dark sense of humor or forced to embrace heartbreaking situations), and the reader is immediately immersed into the existance within the pages of this book.
The expositional premise begins with five mothers with greater destiny than even the leader, Katrina, can fathom. The moment the women have been awaiting is ripped away in a horror. With no explanations, the women fight to exist outside of their grief until the betrayals that happened on that day are unvieled by another victim. Fifteen years later, six soon-to-be warriors are giving their abductors, guardians, and enemies a run for their money. And even when everyone believes that the problem is solved - the people they have sworn to protect put it all in jeopardy and threaten the powerful peacemakers' lives.
It's such an awesome concept. I loved this book, read it it a single sitting, and I'm dying to know what's going to happen next! The mystery will seriously haunt you until you're brushing the last few pages. I recommend Legacy to all vampire and historic fiction readers and fans of Tree of Life by Elita Daniels, Lord of the Rings by J.R. Tolkien, Wanderlove by Belle Mallory, Blue Bloods by Melissa De La Cruz, and Anne Rice! Additionally, I have a strong feeling that readers following the Royal Blood Chronicles and eagerly awaiting this release will not be disappointed!
Highly recommended!
